The Overall Winner was Scoliosis management in spinal muscular atrophy patients
Steve Hewitt, Spinal Clinical Specialist at Sheffield Children’s Hospital and The SpineCorporation Ltd

The judges chose this as the overall winner as it is a fantastic example of
how orthotics can positively impact patient care, quality of life and reduce
inequalities. It demonstrated excellent leadership skills and great tenacity to
push the boundaries. With national and international reach, the project is
having a massive impact on the care of children with complex needs who
previously were unlikely to survive. It shows brilliant collaboration between
the NHS, industry, research and the technical workforce; and multidisciplinary
working at its best to improve the quality of life of these patients.
